Jaskier's start in life was unfortunate, but sadly not unheard of. He was put in a sack, less than an hour old, and chucked in the river. For many in his position that would of been the end of it, but the Yaruga heard his cut off wail and swept him into her loving embrace.
Less than an hour old and Jaskier had already died and been reborn as the newest child of Mama Yaruga.

Summary
You meet up with your soulmate in dreams once or twice every year your whole life, giving you the chance to grow up together and befriend each other no matter where you live. The catch is you only remember what happens in those dreams if you’re currently in one, or if you meet in real life and you BOTH want to be with each other, meaning your waking lives carry on as they would have otherwise with you none the wiser as to whether or not you have a soulmate out there.
This leads to unexpected and wonderful tearful reunions between soulmates discovering each other in waking life, but if your waking selves don’t get along or have emotional constipation (cough, Geralt, cough cough) you and your soulmate can only watch helplessly from your dream meetings as your waking selves make things terrible for both of you without even realizing it.
(Created my own homebrew soulmate!au rules to get myself some solid logical worldbuilding where the characters still have to choose each other in the end, no matter what what destiny says.)

The anger of a good man is terrifying. We all know Jaskier is a feral disaster, but we also know he is soft af. So what the Witcher has never seen him fully feral, and still hasn't. (Title taken from Doctor Who)
Exert: “Dear Witcher, I have just recalled that I need to collect something from a friend at the Academy. If you would be so kind as to wait outside of town, I’ll be along shortly. If you keep going, I’m sure I’ll see you again soon, love. I wouldn’t want to delay you.” Jaskier then stalked off towards the people that Geralt had heard following them. The Witcher was too stunned to stop him or respond. He turned to watch as his bard approached a group of men that all looked to be in their earlier twenties, smelling of thinly veiled fury. Geralt didn’t move until, quick as a flash, Jaskier had the biggest of the group pinned on the ground with a blade to his throat.

Of course, he gets involved anyway. There's just a feeling in his gut that he'd regret it otherwise. Besides, he met this nice young man who he's sure would be great friends with his son.

Telemachus honestly thought the old man that showed up and started killing the suitors was a god in a shoddy disguise. He reacted accordingly, doing everything he could to help the man and keep him happy. It's not until the old beggar walks Telemachus up to the palace that he realizes who this really is.
Athena thinks it's hilarious of course.

Not many children would agree to spy on their father for me."
Percy put the cup down. "I'm not spying on him," he reasoned. Amphitrite scoffed. "I just happen to be in many of the places he is when he's in the mortal world." A long pause followed, and Percy rolled his eyes. "Yes, he was seeing a mortal woman. Her name is Lea."
"You owe me twenty of your mortal dollars, child."
Percy bitterly slapped the paper bill on the table between them.

So, Poseidon would admit he was lost.
Odysseus had tricked him. Again. Despite the way the man had been all but trapped in Poseidon’s domain, Athena’s precious ‘Warrior of the Mind’ had not yet run out of luck and Poseidon was suffering for it. The coward refused to extend proper mercy, didn’t stand like a hero, and now used trickery to run from an honorable death. False righteousness, not even finishing the job.
Yet Poseidon had chased him down, following him into the cave Odysseus’s ship had sailed into. Or, the cave he thought Odysseus’s ship had sailed into.
He wasn’t sure anymore. This was most certainly not Greece anymore.
AKA
EPIC: The Musical's Poseidon lands in the PJO verse and decides that if the local Poseidon is not going to raise his son, then he's going to do it. Percy is just happy to have a dad that wants to take him to drown ferries of tourists.
