As Alhaitham drones on, the color returns to Kaveh’s face. Though this time, Alhaitham can’t quite tell if the light pink on the older man’s cheeks and ears are a result of anger, or something else.

Kaveh doesn’t give his roommate the chance to think or readjust.

The eremite’s brow furrows. “The Scribe?”
“My roommate,” Kaveh spits out like a curse. “My stubborn, unrelenting, annoyance of a roommate who always chooses to be vocal about his distaste for the things I spend my own Mora on. I’m surprised he isn’t here already. He usually…”
Kaveh trails off, suddenly turning his head to glance around the tavern. Lambad’s is slowly growing more empty as the night grows on, but there’s no Alhaitham in sight. Kaveh’s head turns back toward the eremite. “He’s usually here by around now. Just to carry me back home like the drunkard I apparently am.”

Summary
It was a simple fact of reality. Everybody within a two-mile radius was affected by Roger in more ways than he dared to count, and they showed him as much, grabbing him wherever they could reach and using him in whichever way they pleased. It was a wonderful way of life, Roger thought. It was simple, emptied his mind for a few minutes, freed him for a short while. The only thing he had to think about was the feeling, the pressure of their palms and the echo of their words ringing in his ears.
In which Roger has a self-destructive way of life and Brian wants to help him escape the cycle.

The emptiness had never spilled over. Brian had been keeping it in check, keeping himself busy by volunteering at the animal shelter or studying physics way above of his level or playing the guitar until his fingers looked like a mess of bruises and torn cuticles. Sometimes, he would keep himself busy watching Roger bring home girl after girl while he himself sat on the sofa, bitterly drinking a beer and listening to Jimi Hendrix in an attempt to drown out the moans and the bang of the headboard against the wall. He had been keeping the emptiness in check. It had never spilled over. Not until this day.
In which Brian is sad and Roger is frustrated.

Roger also wasn't known to be one that could commit to relationships with others. So when his long time best friend, who he’s recently been sleeping with, Brian May, tells Roger that he has feelings for him, it in no way goes over well.
After a full month of dealing with a heartbroken Brian, he finally manages to move on. Now, after everything has already been said and done, Roger starts to realize he might also have feelings for him.
