Summary
When Odin finds a newborn babe in the war-torn wasteland that is Jotunheim, he takes it home; Frigga is the one to insist they must treat it as their own, and Odin loves her, so he obliges.
And then she dies, and Odin has no time for a child that only reminds him of the very thing he lost - he barely has time for his own young, grieving son.
So he locks it in the Vault, and calls it a trophy from the frozen realm.

All Loki knew for a long, long time were the four walls that held them, and the distorted view into the room beyond - filled with trinkets they couldn't name.

The point is, there’s a lot of effort in Tony's circle to combat any surprises, and the team thing has made it easier for him. There’s not much going on around the world, or off it, that he isn’t either aware of or preparing for.
Which is why the Kraang incident was so devastating.

Summary
After Loki is sentenced to spend a decade assisting the mortal 'heroes', he finds himself settling into his new situation with a surprising ease. Though he is unsure where he stands with his (former?) family, and is still hurt by their lies, he is finally free of his glamour; can breathe, and feel, and be.
And for the first time, Loki simply has fun, enjoying his life in a body now free of aches and irritation. He practices his seidr, battles and banters and spends time with his shield-siblings, who turn out to be delightful companions indeed, perhaps even … friends.

Summary
Jaren starts at his new school, Mystice Academy. It's a seemingly regular boarding school for gifted students, but he quickly realizes that the students here are all extremely bizarre, and there's a lot more to the world than he originally thought. Luckily, he meets a group of guys that are equally as strange, but he fits in great--especially after he realizes he's not quite as normal as he originally thought.
