Possibly the most creative canon divergence in this entire fandom. Even better, it fits perfectly with what we know of Harry's past and gives him an agency of free will that he is often denied of in the books. Harry thinking he's a forest elf...just makes so much sense!
In addition: fairy tales (instead of Hogwarts curriculum), magical pubs, sensible use of Parseltongue, surprising cameos of other HP characters, the granting of wishes (for an acceptable price), and lots and lots of cursing.

Will is locked up in the BSHCI for murders he never committed, but knows who did. Jack brings cases, Alana tries to help, Bev offers takeout, and Hannibal...well, the circumstances may change but the game continues; it will never stop.
In many ways, this is the season 2 that I expected but never got. Let it be known that the ending to this fic is just as cutting as Mizumono.
