The room is too bright.
It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.

And when she realizes Viktor is also in love with Jayce Talis, and Jayce loves them both? She's still practical, after all-- she sees an opportunity.

Summary
Following directly after the events in the game, Kim, Harry, and Jean work out their feelings. A little sprinkle of Trant feelings in there too.
Kim isn't entirely sure what Harry and Jean's relationship was like before Martinaise. Harry certainly isn't any better off in that regard. And Jean can't really settle on what things are going to be like from now on. Perhaps, with a bit of time, they can all work it out.

Hope is the most fragile thing you have ever had to be responsible for.
It makes its home inside your chest, on a precipice that hangs above a dense tangle of gnarly thorns and deadly spikes. It sits in the pockets of empty space between dark clouds of poison gas, in the quiet moments between anguished screams.
Sometimes, hope takes the form of a sure hand on your shoulder. Sometimes it flashes exactly the same way sunlight glints off a pair of black-rimmed glasses. Sometimes it smiles back at you, warm and genuine and breathtaking. Sometimes it glows aerostatic orange.
