Constantine said it was because Dick's latent magic felt the bond break, even if Dick wasn't aware of it himself. With some lessons and exercises Dick didn't feel like the world was filled with only misery, hurt and grief.
Stupid magic. Stupid bonds. And stupid dragons.
Well, there was a bright side. Dick's magic aversion to bonding made him immune to dragons trying to hoard and mate him. Something that happened to him every other week. Constantine said it was because of his aura or some thing. Shining things lured dragons in, and Dick was the brightest in the whole Gotham.
Still, it didn't explain why his magic was eagerly reaching to bond with Red Hood of all people.

So one day he brings in a black fluffy cat with a white spot on his head and green, green eyes. Typical Damian.
The cat seems to set himself to be Bruce's greatest nemesis tho.
Tim observes the event warily, Dick observes this with a caramelized popcorn.

"Who. The fuck. Else. Is going to." He gritted, glaring across at him. Dick went quiet, and the basement's darkness seemed to flatten the air around them as they stood in each other's company, slightly awkward.
Dick swallowed, making an aborted gesture over at him. "So what are you a ghostbuster or something?"
"Oh my god," Jason groaned to himself, instantly turning and walking over to the hole leading out, preparing his grapple so he could leave. He did not have time for this.

Having use of the All-Blades means Jason's pretty used to being the most qualified person in Gotham to deal with supernatural issues. Why Dick's randomly started trying to help he has no fucking clue.
