Summary
Steve Rogers never did know how to avoid a fight without Bucky there to keep him out of trouble. A short fic in which Steve says some things he shouldn’t and Bucky patches him up, longing for things he can never have.
Quips and one-liners at the beginning are actual slang from 1940’s, except Steve’s later comment to Bucky about “no good thievin grifters,” which was adapted from something my (late) husband once said about douchebags. :)
There are clues throughout the story. Enjoy.

Hermione Granger is a quiet, studious girl, never had many friends except one. She keeps her nose to her books, never goes to parties, and only has three goals: becoming a healer, finding a cure, and staying away from her many bullies.
When an old-world tradition forces Hermione to belong to Draco, things go from bad to worse.
Dealing with a bully like Draco Malfoy on a day-to-day basis sucks. Being forcefully bonded to him is a nightmare! Hermione's not sure what will kill her first, Draco, or her secrets. Only time will tell.

Easter mixed with madness makes sense in this twisted landscape; Draco’s only chance at survival is to endure it. He knows this. But that doesn’t quell the twitching in his calves, the flexing in his fingers.
Granger lifts her hand off the floor and Draco nearly loses his lunch, stomach churning as he watches her extend her arm, reaching through the translucent cord, reaching towards him. He tries to blink it away, blink blink blink, but both she and the cord are stubborn, persistent things.
