Naruto shook as he stood. This can’t be real. He made the release sign to dispel any genjutsus and blinked when nothing happened. He reached out with his chakra and felt his old anbu guards nearby.
Naruto rushed to his balcony and whipped the door open, a bird startled and flapped its great wings as it flew from his apartment roof. Naruto inhaled deeply with his head tilted back as he looked out over the dimly lit Konoha. It smelt and looked so alive. His eyes began to water as he gazed up at the hokage summit and that’s when he took a step back in shock.

(Warning: The romance (spice alert) seems rushed, like swan dive into the canal rushed, but slow burn has always been hard for me to write. I can't tell you how many times I had to rewrite scenes in my other works because they would suddenly get hot and heavy, and I had to be like woah slow down it is WAAAYYY too soon for this. But in my defense, I have set it up to where there is already chemistry and history between Itachi and Naruto so it's just a matter of realizing. Also, another warning, Naruto is physically thirteen but mentally eighteen so I don't know if I should put underage or not, so I'll do it just in case...)Series
