Summary
To most, Titanic was the Ship of Dreams. But for one man, it felt like a tomb.
April of 1912, the RMS Titanic is the pinnacle of luxury, but to Jayce Talis it feels like a prisoner ship. Bound by obligation, the pressures of being dragged into the the upper class are suffocating: who to marry, how to act--when all he wants to do is create, innovate.
Viktor is free from such leashes, but that doesn't mean he isn't held by his own chains. With one choice he changes the course of the lives around him, some for better, some for worse. But what's one cheated hand in order to give his friend a better life? After all, one must do what is necessary to survive.

“…I’ve never made one,” Viktor said aloud then, almost as an afterthought.
Jayce blinked. He looked up fully, caught off guard. “What?”
“I’ve never made one,” Viktor repeated. “A fort,” he clarified a second later. “Blanket or otherwise.”
“There were…other priorities.” Viktor’s gaze wandered around the dim, lifeless interior of the lab as he continued. “We didn’t have many blankets to spare. And then I grew up. Too quickly, maybe.” Viktor turned to Jayce fully then, and for the first time since he’d spoken, met his eyes. “I always thought it was a lovely idea, though.” His voice dropped, quiet but sure as he held his gaze. “You could make one now, if you wanted.”

When a winter storm blows through Piltover, the founders of Hextech are stuck in their lab, unable to focus on work. One aches from the cold, the other trying to keep the chill at bay. A much needed break turns into a soft conversation, and the conversation finds itself wandering through what should have been simpler times in a heartless world. But at least, for once, the world can't find them here. Just for today.

Jayce's laugh is summer-bright. “Do you know what I would give to be able to do magic?”
And that’s when Viktor realizes that Jayce does not have wings.

He woke up half-crushed on a futon with Jayce’s head on his shoulder, muttering in his sleep. There was a blue screen flickering in front of them—Hextech, he thought, for a terrified moment, before something in his blood told him they’d fallen asleep watching something together, a movie, which he sort of understood, even if he didn’t think he could explain it.
In the cold glow of the screen, Jayce looked strangely… exposed. It was easier to look at Jayce through the beady white eyes of a god, or his soul in the cosmos, than it was to look at what Viktor had done to him now. For a moment he touched their foreheads together—selfish, selfish—just to feel Jayce’s warmth on his skin. The illusion that he had started something instead of ending it, saved someone instead of ruining him.

All Viktor wants is to keep him safe.
