Summary
During their explorations of Minas Tirith after Aragorn's coronation, Merry and Pippin accidentally disturb a long forgotten magic...and end up back in the Shire during the winter of 1332 (by Shire Reckoning) as children, but still with all their memories. They are rescued by Bilbo who takes them in and raises them for the next few years, up until the fine sunny morning when Gandalf appears in the Shire looking for a hobbit to join an adventure.
Merry and Pippin join the quest to reclaim Erebor, determined to change history for the better, but they don't know that Bilbo didn't tell them the whole story about his great adventure.

“Who were you thinking of?” Jaime instead asked neutrally.
In reply, Robert laughed his great booming laugh again, draining his goblet, “You’ll find out, Kingslayer…I’m going to have some fun with this.”
