Summary
The Goblin-Wonder alliance is resurrected, this time with Hob and Rue at its centre. Hob is horrified that Blemish and Boil used his affections to trap Rue in a match, and Rue is despairing over the fact their punishment for revealing themselves had caught Hob in the crossfire.
They decide to 'pretend' to be madly in love with each other for the sake of the alliance.

The silence that followed Delloso de la Rue’s declaration was almost as loud as the rush of the blood in Hob’s ringing ears. He remained fixed to the spot as if pinned by them as they stated utterly unflinching with steel in their eyes. Hob had seen countless battles through the years, but never had found himself fighting one quite like the one that raged inside himself in this moment.

“Major Hob has never been a heavy sleeper. After the ball, Hob is so exhausted, he has no problem falling right to sleep. He danced all evening with the glorious Delloso de la Rue, and his heart raced all night. Succinctly, Hob slept like a rock for the first time in his life.
“To have a letter slipped onto his person whilst he slept is a frightening feat, the kind of frightening that freezes Hob’s veins. The contents of said letter leave him feeling worse than before.”
