Summary
Klaus is okay. He's always okay. Nothing to see here, he's fine.
Except Ben is gone, the whole timeline is royally fucked, and some asshole is out there wearing his brother's face.
Now the Hargreeves are stuck in a 2019 that's the same but not quite, and while the rest of the Academy unites to get them home, fend off the Sparrows, save the day etc., Klaus finds there isn't much room for him in the team. Maybe there never was.
But when he makes friends with a lonely ghost on a rooftop one night, he has a revelation. Breaking bones and cracking skulls has never really been his deal, but there may be other ways to help save the day, or whatever.
He might not be much of a superhero, but he's not an overly terrible medium. Perhaps, he could be something in between.

Ed knows Winry’s decision before she makes it. For the last three days she’s been absorbed in the radio broadcast, listening constantly at work and at home, even at the dinner table. They’re calling the earthquake the worst natural disaster in Amestrian history. It rocked the entire northern region from Briggs to North City with a tremor that devastated countless towns in between. These people are now without power, without food, many trapped inside collapsed buildings or stranded without homes. Less than a day after the earthquake, the government declared a state of emergency and put out a plea for volunteers to help in any capacity—victim rescue, manual labor, and especially medical care.
Winry teases him when she finds the stationery and stamps stowed in the front pocket of her suitcase. She calls him a hypocrite. Ed just shrugs and says that maybe she’ll feel different.

It wasn’t for lack of trying that she’s in this position. On both occasions when Ed called during his trip (twice in six months, and just to check in—a record, to be sure) she almost told him but didn’t. She’d wanted to, but allowed herself to fail under the pretense that it might keep him that much more focused, and thereby that much safer. Only now does she acknowledge that this reasoning was just cowardice behind an excuse. Ed at his most focused is just as prone to disaster as he would be walking blind into a firing range. This visit only proves it.
