So I see a lot of different writers wondering what happens after Khan's blood is used to revive Kirk and it got me thinking because radiation is kinda my job in real life and the more I considered it the more I realized that genetic changes are basically impossible to prevent given the manner in which James T. Harry Potter reacts much differently to the Dementor attack on his cousin and it causes a cascade of changes in the lives of everyone he knows. He takes advantage of some old traditions to escape the predetermined path he has been set on.
“Somehow you found me a more acceptable confidant,” Snape said, in a tone that implied that Harry’s brain might be faulty.
“This would probably upset anyone I said it to, but you’re about the only person actively trying to keep me from being in mortal danger in the first place. Plenty of people will help me once I’m neck deep in it, but they’d still encourage me to walk into the mess."

Summary
Enterprise is safe to fly another day. All thanks to Captain James T. Kirk's sacrifice. He's made peace with his death, even though it breaks his heart one final time to see the hurt in Spock's eyes. Still, the last thing he gets to see is the face of one of his dearest friends... until his eyes snap back open. Not in a hospital. In a shuttle as it lands at the Academy.
“Once you exit the shuttle you are free to return to your dorms. Those of you who are new, you’ll follow me to registration and physicals,” a vaguely familiar-looking officer says, and Jim’s heart stops in his chest. Surprising, considering it shouldn’t be beating at all.

Summary
He blinked to clear whatever must have gotten in his eyes to cause this. Was it the goop of the soul wisp? Did spirits actually goop things like in Ghostbusters? But all that came of his attempts was a slight difference. Not a complete clearance of the dark but an addition like holes poked into a box, the difference between the black of the empty night sky and the addition of stars. Celestial bodies graced his own eternal night in the form glowing orbs of different colours and sizes in front of him. Not as many as the stars but definitely more than what was there before. Aside from that? Nothing, a darkness he had never known before now filling his vision. His hands tightened almost painfully around Sirius' arm.
