“Yes,” Ilya interrupted. He didn’t want to know how long Hollander’s list was. “I know.”
Hollander took a deep breath. “Okay, listen,” he said. “Just so we’re clear - we don’t know each other outside of playing against each other, right?”
“Right.”
“And we can’t- can’t hook up anymore.”

OR
Shane is assaulted by an obsessive fan after a charity game and briefly hospitalized. Rumors fly that Ilya hired the attacker to take Shane off the ice and rig the playoffs. Bound and determined to protect his boyfriend's reputation as a sportsman (and tired of being forced apart during medical emergencies), Shane rallies the troops for a chaotic coming out statement.

Summary
Shane Hollander is bitten by Dallas Kent on the ice.
He doesn’t quite hit the mating mark. Not entirely. But the action is enough to start a revolution of the hockey league, where outdated laws about alphas and omegas in sports are questioned by the public.
Shane’s just trying to recover, having never wanted to be the centre of attention in a situation like this.
And Ilya, in between supporting his partner and captaining the ship of the proposed “Equitable Treatment Act” to protect omegas in sports, is out for Dallas’ blood.

“I’ve…seen you around campus and it’s good to finally meet you. Like, properly.” He fumbled over the words, his tongue feeling thick and heavy and entirely too big for his mouth. Whether it was from the weed or the nerves from Ilya's presence, Shane couldn't tell.
“I’ve seen you, too.” Ilya grabbed the cigarette from behind his ear, bringing it to his mouth before lighting it.
“Really?” He watched as Ilya took a long inhale from the cigarette. Shane wanted to say something in that moment, something about how mixing alcohol, weed, and nicotine was probably a bad idea, but the words died in his throat as Ilya blew out smoke from the corner of his mouth and grinned at him. He looked so fucking good.
“Da, Shane Hollander.” Shane fought back a shiver as his name fell from Ilya’s lips. He loved how Ilya’s voice had wrapped around the vowels, long drawn out and quiet. He wanted to hear it again and again.

So when a new regular starts showing up—quiet, watchful, Russian-accented, and conducting invitation-only meetings in the back—Shane notices. When that same man takes an unsettling interest in Shane’s closing shifts, his routines, and his safety, Shane does what feels sensible: he adjusts his behavior and keeps his mouth shut.
Ilya Rozanov orders an Americano. He reads, but only in Russian. He worries when people work late alone.
