“Well, we’ve certainly caught this early, it seems,” Manuela says, and Felix glares at his knees. “You’ve had no pain or dizziness? Fatigue? Spots in your vision, loss of color?” He shakes his head even as his fingers clench around his upper arms, because he hadn’t thought about how this was going to happen.
He had only been thinking about his childhood, every salt-tear he had spilled on Dimitri’s sleeves and into Sylvain’s shirt-fronts, how he had given up crying while they buried a coffin with only armor inside. He’d been dwelling on how weak he would look because of this, how weak he would feel, and not about the end consequence.
He is not sure if he can come to terms with going blind because his stupid heart chose to fixate on Sylvain.

Hilda’s exceedingly versatile skills in reconnaissance around the monastery simply meant that when the entire institution exploded with intrigue and rumor about the new—er, old? Former?—students, it hadn’t remotely surprised her. This place went crazy when they added a new dish to the menu in the dining hall, a whole unknown set of people showing up meant pure chaos. Such was life somewhat apart from the rest of the country with little to do after classes but chatter to anyone willing to listen.

The night before the final fight, Byleth and Yuri seek out each other.
“I was looking for you,” Byleth says in that low, barely-audible whisper of his. His voice is a landslide, rocks tumbling into a canyon. Yuri feels the back of his neck unexpectedly heat at the sound of it. He watches as Byleth turns on his heel, marching back to the entrance of the tent. He kneels down briefly, tying the knots to keep the flap closed. Then he stands, his head still bowed, his hands clenched in fists at his side. When he turns back around to face Yuri, his face is neutral, his breathing even. Yuri stands up straighter at the sight of Byleth looking at him underneath dark lashes.
