Summary
"Connor," Amanda says quietly, her soft palm pressing against its shoulder. "You can always come to me, no matter what struggles you're having."
Her soothing voice, the garden's diffuse lighting- it's at odds with the bright warnings in its HUD.
[WARNING: SHUT DOWN IN-]
"Explain to me what you were doing just now." The command is delicately delivered.
There is no answer to give.After- Connor changes. Joking is unnatural, banter comes awkwardly. The cold reality of its purpose -which the lieutenant has been doing his best to avoid- resharpens.
Hank wants to know what happened, wants to help.
Connor is fairly sure he can't do either.RECOMMENDED AS A STAND ALONE PIECE.

Holy shit this is the best machine connor fic of all time!!! I genuinely cannot express how well connor is written here, its crazy. At first i was confused what was happening with the timeline since it was all original cases yet the deviant case was still a thing and androids were still considered as just machines until i realised its like an invented prequel of sorts to draw out the story since dbh happens in only a weeks time and that was unconvenient for the numbing that happens to connor. It was really sad to read and gave a sense of hopelessness but i still expected connor to deviate at the end and fight amanda or something. And it did happen...just not how i expected it to. Connors idea at the end is so fucking crazy but i guess anything is possible. In this fic connor is way more advanced than in canon and can hack into anything...im glad a lot of authors like this headcanon i think it fits connor and he should be able to do that if he hasnt already in the game... really good fic completely unexpected ending 20/10 everyone needs a hug and idk what connor would even need to get better... free my son

Summary
It’s different. “Connor”.
Bland.
Hank thought it had a stick up its ass before, but this is something else. Every morning it’ll greet him in that annoying synthetic lilt, all placid smiles and canned platitudes. It’s banned from the field, too, just so that Hank never gets a break from its scrawny silhouette in his periphery. Haunting the precinct like a plastic specter. Gone are the little smiles, the attitude he thought he’d caught glimpses of. No more weird-ass small talk. Figures it’d drop the human act now that the gig is up.
Still, it creeps him out. The way it’ll look at him sometimes — wide brown eyes with nobody in the driver’s seat. He’s pretty sure it used to blink.
(The android revolution falls to a bullet. Hank returns to work to a familiar face.)

Holy shit this is so good. Its not overwhelmingly sad in that whump way you usually read but its a deep sort of depression that reads when you put yourself in the lieutenant's shoes. Connor is treated terribly but its seen in a way someone sees a weird machine, from Hank's perspective: its definitely not human but its not a toaster either... at least thats what we think, at first. The traci was really unexpected, I thought it was north at first since she was also a companion model, although not a traci but close enough. I hope the next part delivers just as well as this one! Im sure it will.

Summary
A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three he stays. But when the cat was never a kitten, when the android never got to be a child, he does not know what play is. Born with only the instinct to hunt and blood on his tongue, will this newly free cat’s life ever have begun? Or will he be left trapped in the husk of his old life and lose the freedom he's worked so hard to grasp?

Genuinely such a good read. The cat allegories and the proverbs(?) are so well written i thought they were from something else at first. Everyone thinks of Connor as a poodle, a harmless dog. But that dosen't really describe him. He's not harmless. He's not free of guilt or violence. He did hurt others and himself for his own gain(really cyberlife's). But that dosent make him evil. Simply human.
At first i thought Seventy was just a fractured part of connors mind, kinda like multiple personality disorder or something like what sunny had going on in omori. But it really was another guy that wormed his way through his systems. Im not sure how he got in there without overloasing connors systems with there being two whole AIs but id say amanda being in there before means he had good specs, and i guess connor dosent have firewalls or antiviruses? Either way it was interesting. Also seventy being still alive to some capacity is very unsettling to me. Is he going to show up someday? Probably not. But hes pretty much an actual ghost now. Its pretty scary. Anyways back to the cat metaphpr. I think its genius and i really like it. I genuinely think this fic has helped me mentally in a way i cannot describe. A lot of ppl talk about how pieces of media change them as a person and chamges their whole perspective on life but i was never able to relate with that, seeing it as a sign that the person pught to kniw themselves better so to not be swept by the tides of any influence they encounter so drastically. This fic though has changed something in me. I feel a deep sadness in my heart but i also know im okay and loved. And its okay that im not by others. Taking things one at a time and just doing things matter, even if theyre not perfect or late or unconventionally made. Its very interesting. Also shoutout markus for being the hidden goat of this story. Man is actually the leader of a whole species yet does literaly everything for everyone, is not bitter about hank and connors familial relationship when carl is probably dead and he had left in such a traumatising way. Also goes with him to a terifying graveyard that traumatised him to his core and changed his life forever. He is genuinely so good. I hope hes doing well.
Hank and connor have a lot more in common than youd think. They are both depressed and suicidal and anxious, just for different reasons. Hank is genuinely kind and selfless at his core, and connor will only get better with him by his side.
