self indulgent Blue Lock chatfic (like we don't already have enough i'm sorry) i tagged the fic as "chatfic" so that it's easily excludable for those who hate chatfics.
this fic begins during the shibuya arc (during their first blue lock break) and it's a bit different than canon. i'll add tags as i update!

Summary
Wow so I (Candi) decided to update the summary
I wanted to originally write one of those plotless chatfics, but I read some amazing ones on here that did have plots, I sent them to my friends (the other authors) and I really wanted to write this!! The plot starts developing around chapter 3 so if you dgaf about fluff I would skip to there lol.
I can maybe introduce myself as the main author, Candi, the second author is Eddie, who told me to 'go for it' aka write this fic, he doesn't write (as of rn) but is 100% the inspiration for the fic :), Raki (who may or may not get an ao3 account soon) writes when I can't, and just started writing recently as of 11/17/25
I most likely won't abandon this fic but University is KICKING MY ASS so Raki is writing for any future updates as of November 17th - Candi

Maybe this was what John Watson used to do when he was still by Sherlock's side. William could easily imagine it, a former army doctor who understood just how fragile the body could be if pushed too far. He must've seen Sherlock skipping meals, drinking coffee until late, then collapsing in his chair as if his body were just a tool to be used and discarded.
With his medical knowledge, John must've worried. Maybe he scolded, handed him food, or even forced Sherlock to rest. William could understand that. He didn't have to know John personally to see how often the man must've felt frustrated facing those awful habits. Sherlock rarely cared about the small things that kept people alive.
Now, sitting in that same place, William realized how hard that role was. Sherlock wasn't someone who followed directions easily. He wasn't used to listening especially not when it wasn't about cases or logic. William had seen him collapse after a night fueled by nothing but coffee.
And that was why he'd promised himself he would take care of Sherlock.

As far as Sherlock knew, William's heart wasn't something to be carved into pieces like a cake. He gave differently to each person. Louis and Albert had his familial side, deeper than any blood tie. Moran had his unshakable trust. Fred had his compassion. And Sherlock, he had the part of William that was both brilliant and breakable at the same time.
"So you're not jealous at all?"
"Jealousy's for people who aren't sure. I don't see any reason to doubt, even if William's close to many others, because what we have still stands on its own and it can't be replaced."
