Crowley, a reckless RAF pilot who has survived one crash too many, can’t explain why he keeps walking away from the wreckage. The fire never touches him. The bullets miss. The world keeps burning, yet he endures, and it’s driving him mad. One night, on a whim or perhaps a prayer, he hides a letter inside a battered copy of Pride and Prejudice. A confession. A plea. What begins as anonymous letters tucked between pages becomes something sacred. Their words dance from Austen to Shakespeare to Blake, speaking in poetry, paper, and slowly melting wax. As he turned the page again a small white paper fell from the book and floated to the floor at his feet. He stepped back defensively surprised that something had come out of it. He bent down to retrieve it, seeing the words “V and Hope 1946” written on the back in English.
Hoseok’s vision had gone jet black. As if moving in slow motion he felt his body hit the hardwood floor as the voices of his concerned friends seemed to echo in a far off space. Hues of blue began to shimmer into the edges of his vision, specks of light danced over a not-quite-black background with a kaleidoscope effect.
The fall had knocked the air from him and suddenly he felt like everything had come crashing down onto him. A heavy weight pressed on his chest knowing that his fall had knocked the wind from his lungs. The phosphene was stronger now and his vision had completely turned blue; however many different shades of blue. Cerulean, sapphire, YInMn Blue, cobalt, teal, navy swirled together.

“And how long is this trip, exactly?”
“One full week,” Crowley enunciated too clearly, stretching his lips around the words and sharply clacking his k. “Seven whole days.”

Crowley finally works up the courage to attend a kink night at one of the sex clubs in the city. He's open to just about anything happening, and he's cautiously optimistic that he might find someone to hook up with or who might possibly indulge him in one of his deepest curiosities: impact play.
Almost immediately his eye is drawn to a far corner where there sits a wooden, partially padded St Andrew’s Cross and the man standing next to it. Crowley doesn’t consciously choose that corner as his first destination, but he’s heading there in any case, the feeling of eyes, both curious and appraising, landing on him from all angles as he goes.
When he comes to a stop in front of the X frame, he dips his chin in greeting, trying to think of something to say that isn’t completely idiotic or worse—
— but the man, looking up at him with a serene sort of expression, beats Crowley to it.
“Good evening, my dear,” he says, smiling in a way that touches the edges of Crowley’s fluttering heart, sweet but not too sweet. “I’m Aziraphale; I’ve not seen you here before, I don’t think. May I shake your hand?”
