He isn't expecting Dream of clan Endless, who smells like Burgess for a reason he does not understand, and his son, to suddenly appear on his land one day, as though they belong there. Hob promises to protect his son, just like Eleanor had done for them, but as it turns out...
That might not have been necessary. And maybe, just maybe, they weren't the only ones running from a demon named Burgess.

Only then, the Head of the New York Institute offers the impossible - a night with a virgin, unclaimed omega in return for the healing of their people. Furious, and ready to kill the Head of the Institute for daring to offer up an omega like that, Magnus accepts the offer, fully intending to rescue the poor omega.
It turns out, however, that he's underestimated the Head of the New York Institute - Alec Lightwood.

Summary
When Viktor says, “Jayce, your leg…” his voice does not reverberate with an otherworldly echo. He sounds like Viktor—just Viktor. Jayce’s partner.
“It’s okay,” Jayce says. He wraps his fingers around the hand that Viktor offers him, and as their skin touches, an electric tingle goes down Jayce’s arm. For a moment he expects them to be back in that other place, blinding blue light and the glow of countless souls surrounding them, but no—they’re still here, in the bright midday sunlight, on the shattered dome above Piltover. They are real.
Jayce and Viktor survive. There is still so much for them to figure out.

Heimerdinger suddenly stops strumming. The final note ends on an off-key chord Ekko can't help but wince at. Furry brows knitting together, the professor tilts his head, apparently confused by the question. "For my old glasses?"
"For Jayce. Or Viktor," Ekko clarifies, though he's pretty sure Heimerdinger knew what he was getting at. "Even if our Jayce did end up somewhere else, one should still exist here. In this timeline, what happened after the explosion?"
Heimerdinger frowns, mustache wriggling in displeasure.
"Ah, yes, the incident. Well, you see—"
Or, Heimerdinger doesn't want to disrupt the peace Jayce and Viktor have built for themselves in the alternate timeline, and Ekko learns Powder has something to do with that.

Friends make friends stuff all the time, and Jayce did break Viktor's cane. It'd be a nice thing to do. A cane, plus some cool tools, and Jayce will be able to know he's a good friend. He likes this plan.

Viktor knew that Jayce sometimes needed a place to hide — to escape the world; the eyes and the incessant voices that plagued him. The lab was often the place to do it, and even if Viktor was feeling his own set of unique, uncomfortable emotions, he would not deny Jayce his sanctuary.
