Summary
I felt for Ric, and the new Robin, but I would not stay here. I would not be pinned up like a bug, worshipped like a fetish, all to soothe the guilty mind of the man I could only assume had gotten me killed.
Bruce, no last name, escapes from the hospital after surviving a car crash. All he has is his name, his body, and the vague feeling that something isn't right. All he knows is that Gotham will eat him alive if he doesn't take the first bite. Landing a job with Two-Face is his first step, quickly spiralling out of control as the Something in his mind gives him skills far beyond his age. Skills that kill Gotham's worst of the worst, skills that attract a Bat and its brood.
He wanted a quiet life, but it's Gotham. Bruce is plunged head-first into the search for a dead-boy and into fights to separate himself from an identity others want to drown him in.

Summary
"We have a birthday cake here for you," Dick explains, voice soft. "Do you remember those? There's all these candles here for you to blow out, and then we each eat a piece of the cake."
The only indication that Jason is still alive and there is the slow blinking of his eyes at almost leisurely intervals.

The Batfam rallies to make Jason's 18th(?) birthday as special as can be. That's kind of hard to do when Jason is struggling to even stay present.

Summary
Jason doesn't move from Bruce's side until the man opens his eyes seven hours later. He did it once before, but was fast asleep before anyone could say anything. This time, Jason watches his fingers twitch, then as a grimace stretches across his face.
Finally, dazed and scared, Bruce blinks up at him, “Jay?”
Jason holds onto his hand, and squeezes, “Yeah. I'm here.”
(Bruce returns from the kind-of dead and Jason takes it upon himself to pick up the pieces.)

Bruce is so ill he can barely keep himself upright, while Jason, his Catherine-related PTSD kicking in, fusses anxiously at his bedside, trying to nurse him.
