Summary
After Waterloo, a defeated Napoleon leaves the battlefield believing he has lost everything, his empire, his army, and his future.
On the road to exile, his carriage is unexpectedly stopped by the Duke of Wellington.
Instead of taking him prisoner, Wellington confronts him alone. Their conversation turns deeply personal as Napoleon admits that, in the moment of his defeat, all he wanted was for Wellington to find him.
Wellington confesses he has secretly loved and obsessed over Napoleon for seventeen years, following his every move while hiding his feelings behind war and duty.
Realizing their rivalry has masked a mutual longing, they finally abandon years of restraint. They hold hands, share a desperate kiss, and promise that exile will not be the end of them.
As the war ends around them, both men understand that their greatest surrender is not military, but emotional — the beginning of a relationship neither victory nor defeat could erase.
