“She has not been properly courted!” Benedict pushes himself to his feet, pacing the short distance in front of his brother. “I have not promenaded with her. I have not provided her with gifts. I have not so much as danced with her. Not since…” He bites back the conclusion to that sentence, wanting to keep Sophie as his Lady in Silver a secret for a little longer. “She deserves those things as much as she does a proposal. But I cannot be expected to wait any longer. I have waited for far too long already.”
“Why not simply do both?” Colin inquires as if it is the most uncomplicated question to pose of all time.
Or: Benedict cannot go a single day more without making sure this ring sits squarely on Sophie's finger, but he fears he is missing a once in a lifetime opportunity to demonstrate her proper romance.
