    Summary

    NASA's newest mission sends a sentient xenologist rover named Amity to Mars to study the Rovarians-the advanced race of evolved, sentient Mars Exploration Rovers (or MERs) who have claimed the Red Planet as their homeworld. While there, he befriends several high ranking Rovarians, including a starship captain and her crew, an ambassador with a young son, and two warriors with a knack for pranks. He also meets the original NASA MERs Spirit and Opportunity, now the leaders of the entire Rovarian race. His connection with them becomes much deeper as Amity finds himself falling in love with Opportunity, who he ends up marrying.

    But even with powerful leaders as a husband and sister-in-law, darkness and terror still find their way into Amity's life, and he'll need the help of all of his friends from Earth and Mars to keep the two worlds from edging toward a second war. Through it all, Amity witnesses just how powerful the bonds of friendship, family, and love can be.

    As if that weren't enough, there's the changes he undergoes with married life, including a family plannig decision that turns into something neither he nor Opportunity expected.
