Parrot had already been helping everyone he could throughout the city; he’d done his best. It wasn’t exactly that surprising to learn that the one currently assisting him in becoming King was someone he’d helped a long time ago.
That thought was supposed to reassure him, to boost his confidence. But it didn't. He was supposed to be glad he got another piece of vital information. But he wasn't.
That feeling of someone watching, of someone monitoring his every move. He felt it.

Clover never thought they'd be scared of death. Then again, they thought they wouldn't die at fourteen, so they didn't bother themselves with worrying about it. One sacrifice later, and everything around them was death. A void. Null. They'd seen so much death in their life, most deaths had been their own, the others were the deaths of their friends. Or, at least, people whom they thought to be their friends.
In death, all that remains are memories.
Memories of the dead. That's all Clover had.
So much time to reminisce. They sort of hated it.Who wants to reminisce about everything you've lost?
In the land of the living, everything has changed for the better. Everyone is happy. Only one more human left to go through, then we'll all be free. Those who knew Clover are less elated at their death. A year passes. An anniversary of death. Nobody ever knew the child's birthday. They never would. The sheriff feigns confidence, the forever-grieving mother doesn't try, the artist lives in solitude, the carpenter distracts herself.
Everything is different. All everyone has is memories.

They had faced many challenges before, and they would consider this another one. So, steeling their nerves, they prepared for the haunting howl of endless darkness and an eternity of lost sensations.
Or at least that is what they would have liked to say, were it not for the fact that the world slowly began fading back into view the moment the nothingness had settled over their entire being. That… was unexpected. What.
They opened their eyes, the world completely coming back into focus, almost as if nothing had changed at all. Clover slowly blinked, a sense of uncertainty settling over them. What was going on? Were they… not dead?
TL:DR Clover is back! Maybe not in a way they had expected, but back nonetheless. Surely, being stuck in the underground as a lost spirit cannot go wrong, right?
