Barry has worked earnestly, trying to make his haphazard world a safer place for all of its inhabitants. He appreciated the unorthodox company currently residing on his roof. As long as they didn’t try to break into his home one night and drain him dry, he was perfectly content with letting them hang out there. One of them, particular, he found to be rather lovely.

Taako wasn't supposed to give a shit. He was the one who could push for the hard choice in their group, who could turn away from a world and let it crumble to dust behind them. He'd done it twenty one times now, doing it once more shouldn't be an issue.
This was all the beach year's fault. That damn ocean had worn away the sharp edges he'd had in place to protect himself from shit like this, and he hadn't been able to build them back up in time. He'd never admit it, but kids had always been a particular soft spot for him.
And Angus was a brat, but fuck, just this once Taako didn't want to leave it all to dust in his wake.
