Chuuya navigates society at large while grappling with what it means for him to be human, but memories of the past continue to haunt him. Dazai recounts the kinder times of their other selves in another life, and in this universe, Chuuya believes he suffers a fate worse than death.

A simple book, full of blank pages, and when he finally manages to put his hands on it, the once peaceful streets are paved with corpses, orphans are crying, but it's not like it matters anymore. With that book in hands, reality doesn't mean anything.

Dazai's eyes began to focus as his skin regained some of its colour. Two bruising puncture holes slowly grew visible with every moment that passed. Brown, dull, tired eyes drifted to Chuuya's glowing red ones.
"Chi...bi's", he was barely able to mutter the insufferable nickname, "Back to...his... senses now?".
"Dazai", Chuuya was still lost in the many thoughts that flooded his mind, panic settling at the pit of his stomach.
"Hmm?", Dazai answered, too exhausted to speak.
"I think we just accidentally made a blood pact."

Chuuya accidentally makes a risky pact with the disgusting mackerel and desperately tries to figure out a way to break it before the elders find out.
Dazai doesn't know what he just got himself into but he sure knows it's gonna be one hell of a ride.

Summary
The last time Chuuya woke up next to his other half in Soukoku , he was 18 years old and just weeks away from being declared an executive to fill one of the two empty spots left behind by his partner following his defection—at the time, temporarily dubbed his death—his final success.
Now, the weight on his shoulder is a bit different yet undeniably, gut-wrenchingly familiar.
Uncombed, practically matted brown hair threatens to tickle at his nose making Chuuya want to vomit. Wishing to avoid waking a sleeping Dazai—better than a pained, whiny Dazai—Chuuya threads his hands through Dazai’s tangled hair as best he can.

Dazai spoke first. Yellowing teeth pulled at thin chapped lips, contemplating. "I'm sorry."
An exhausted sigh ripped through him as Chuuya reached forward to wrap his fingers around the stem of his glass, tanned perfect hands contrasting to pale torn ones that belonged to his partner. He brought the rim up to his mouth, resting the cold crystal on his bottom lip. "Why?"
"For leaving the Port Mafia," Dazai replied.

Dazai sighs. Manipulation is usually so easy. Sometimes he wishes Chuuya didn’t know him so well so it would be easier to manipulate him. “Fine,” Dazai bites. “I just…want you. That’s all. Okay? I feel so much tension between us, y’know? I do actually think we’ll mix well together, though.”
Chuuya throws up his eyebrows at that. From Dazai’s tone, Chuuya gathers that this is finally the truth. Even so, he knows Dazai can’t help but beat around the bush when talking about his feelings. So what Chuuya hears from Dazai’s words is, “I want you, and I’ve wanted you for a long time. And I find you attractive.”
Of course, he knows Dazai would never say those exact actual words to him, but he’s fairly certain that’s how Dazai feels. And of course, that makes him feel just a bit weak, to know that Dazai Osamu, the Demon Prodigy, his partner, wants him and is attracted to him.

Dazai and Chuuya want to have sex. However, they can't come to an agreement on who gets to top—so they compete for it.
