Summary
Stede Bonnet runs the prehistoric department at his local science museum. When it’s announced that the prehistoric exhibit is going down for maintenance, he decides to take his department on a 3-week amateur dino dig. There, he meets senior paleontologist Edward Teach, who’s sick of museum work and hates that the amateur digs exploit the free labor of people who are passionate about paleontology and archaeology. He’s also sick of most of the people he meets on these digs, who all treat him like an unapproachable god. Until he meets Stede Bonnet, who has heard his name but never had a face to put it to and actually treats him like a person for the first time since he discovered a major fossil. Stede is freshly divorced and has never thought about his sexuality. But he feels a strange draw to Ed that he’s never felt with anyone before.

It wasn’t that Stede hadn’t been acquainted with the cannabis sativa plant. In fact, it was unequivocally the opposite - nearly half his crew partook at least occasionally, so the Revenge had been carrying her fair share of flower for the majority of her maiden voyage.
Even so, Stede had yet to find the courage to approach his crew about partaking himself. ‘Something-something-professional-boundaries-or-other’ was the excuse he’d usually go with when he’d gotten close to considering it.
Then, he found Ed.

In which Stede wants to try pot, and somehow the Dread Pyrate Blackbeard seems more approachable to him than his own crew. Go figure.

"Well fuck," Stede says breathlessly, kneeling on the center of his bed with the salt canister clutched to his chest. "I didn't think that would actually work."
"Did it?" the man asks curiously, looking down at himself and then back up at Stede. "You can see me?"
"Yes, I believe so," answers Stede, uncertain. He flicks the canister of salt at the figure and watches as the seasoning bounces off of the man's chest and falls to the floor. "Dear god in heaven, you're corporeal."
..............................Stede's new house is apparently haunted, and when a banishing spell goes awry he finds himself in possession of one (1) new ghostly roommate in Edward Teach, the dread pirate Blackbeard who's been dead for over 300 years. And uh, he's kind of cute...
