“Your wines are seasonal, are they not?” Neuvillette’s lips tip up into a smile. He allows his gaze to wander, taking in the townsfolk. “To have this during such a brutal season is a blessing in itself.”
“A blessing, indeed.” Wriothesley smiles kindly in turn, then hesitates, a question on the tip of his tongue. “Tell me, in your travels, have you found God?”
“Oh, I see.” Neuvillette’s laugh is deep, sonorous and genuine. The voice of the wind seems to live within him, words breathed out in a hushed tone to keep prying ears away from things they should not hear. “I fear I have found little of God in most places. As such a man yourself dedicated to faith, I am sure you and I can both agree that He can be found in the darkest of places, rather, in search of those who need salvation most.”
- Nestled into a lazy seaside town, the last creature Wriothesley expects to allow through the hallowed doors of his church is a Vampyr. Especially one who is so fetching. Perhaps this is the one temptation that will lead to his damnation.

"The mere sight of Neuvillette without his judicial robes was already enough to tug at the edges of Wriothesley's barely-restrained desire - there’s no way he’ll be able to see the Iudex in any less without those images consuming his nights for the next several months at least. On a business trip to Inazuma, Neuvillette and Wriothesley bite off more than they can chew by deciding to travel to the Kamisato Estate on foot. The weather leaves them hot, bothered and in desperate need of a cool spring to soothe their agitated bodies and frayed nerves. Good thing they're in onsen country, right?
But the physical heat between them isn't the only thing they're feeling. And what happens when you combine years of longing with exposed skin, thick tension and uncharacteristic forwardness? That's anyone's guess.

A beat of silence passes. When Wriothesley looks up again, Neuvillette’s expression has noticeably relaxed. The barely-there hint of a smile looks beautiful in the dim light of his office.
“I am most grateful for your invitation, Your Grace, and I would happily accept,” he says.
Wriothesley had not expected that answer. He blinks. “Really?”
“Of course,” Neuvillette says, amusement creeping into his tone. “The event happens to fall during a lighter period of activity here at the Palais Mermonia. A happy coincidence. I can be free for the evening.”
The Fortress of Meropide comes together for a scrap-up celebration of White Day—a grander event than any they've hosted before. Wriothesley invites Neuvillette, and the night proceeds in a way that he is not at all expecting.
