The sort of feeling that festers if left unchecked. It found roots in his gut and it grew into his lungs and he’s afraid it isn’t getting any better.

“I’m Atsumu! What’s your name?”
The boy mumbled out an answer, and because his voice was muffled by his mask, all Atsumu heard was “...Omi.”
“Omi?”
“Kiyoomi,” the boy said in a much clearer voice.
But Atsumu was already attached to the name. “Omi-Omi! Let’s go!” Shamelessly, he grabbed him by the hand and tugged him behind him. He felt responsible for him — the boy clearly needed all the protection and guidance he could get. Atsumu can be his hero.

The story started when the Sakusa family moved into their neighborhood in Amagasaki when they were nine. Atsumu would always remember that he saw Kiyoomi first.

“Ya absolute opportunist fucker!” Atsumu shouts over the phone, stumbling out the door with his sneakers barely slipped on properly. He forgot to throw on a jacket even, dammit.
The rest of the team doubts that Bokuto’s privy to the… situation. Unlike Atsumu, they have the good sense to not pry. Bokuto’s an adult. He’s a big boy. He agrees, but his stake in this isn’t necessarily protecting Bokuto’s feelings, it’s to curse out his asshole of a twin brother.
Look, Atsumu might not have the most experience with relationship or ex-boyfriend etiquette, but really? Not even a month has passed, and his twin’s already maneuvering himself to do God knows what.
“Good mornin’ to you too, Tsumu,” Osamu drawls on the other side of the line. He already sounds done with this conversation. Oh, please.
Or: The mess that Bokuto, Akaashi, and Osamu make, wherein Atsumu Miya is somehow the levelheaded one in all of this.

Keith bites his lower lip in worry when he notices that it’s been almost 20 minutes since Lance had abruptly stood up from their cuddle session and locked himself in their bathroom.
“Lance?” Keith calls softly, knuckles gently knocking on the wooden door, “Babe, make a sound of you can hear me.”
Lance heaves loudly inside.
“Not that kind of sound.”
[Or the one where Lance gets sick, feels vulnerable and is greateful beyond words when his boyfriend doesn't hesitate to help him out.]

"Well," Allura started, "When an individual has strong feelings for the one the spell is being cast towards, the spell can't overcome those emotions. I'm guessing the spell didn't work on Keith because he already has strong feelings for you, Lance."
Lance looked at Allura, who was smiling brightly, and then at Keith, who was very pointedly not looking back at him.
"So what you're telling me," Lance said, hating the way his heart felt like it was breaking into a thousand tiny pieces, "Is that Keith hates me so strongly that the spell didn't have an effect on him?"
(Or, a witch casts a love spell on the paladins of Voltron, making them all fall in love with Lance. The only one unaffected is Keith, so naturally Lance assumes Keith's feelings of hate are so strong that not even a love spell can overcome them.)

Summary
College campuses are a cesspool of awkward encounters. Some more unnerving than others, as Lance comes to find. He thinks it's important to note that in all those instances, Keith is there to witness them. Actually, that's unfair. Admittedly Keith happens be useful in getting him out of those situations. Affection, as it goes, grows stronger when you're constantly being "saved" by a protective rival – but mostly friend at this point.
Or 5 times Keith helped Lance out of a situation and the 1 time Lance tried to pay back the saves.

Sakusa Kiyoomi has an amazing memory and an even more amazing right hook. He uses both to do what he thinks is best: protect Miya Atsumu from anyone who tries to hurt him. Really doesn't help that his unchecked jealousy issues have him thinking he can blow someone up with his mind just for looking at Miya Atsumu though.
Kiyoomi has been in love with his best friend Atsumu for too long now. Maybe he should stop looking at engagement rings before they're even together. Maybe he should be careful with Atsumu's twin brother hating his very guts. Everything will be fine as long as he can keep Atsumu happy.
