Well, look at that! Ladies and Gentlemen, Neil’s first sensible decision of the day.
Ignoring the pain like a champ, he crawled out of the wreckage for the second time and managed to get to his feet.
Just as he was about to turn around and see if this was finally THE moment when karma decided to shake things up, he froze.
Something felt off.
The silence.
Neil glanced back at the flipped van he had just escaped and noticed a complete lack of life. No other vehicles trying to play demolition derby, no bystanders, not even a stray cat in sight. It was bizarre, especially for a city that should be buzzing with activity.
He was all alone in a ghost town, with nothing but the unsettling quiet for company.
"Uh?"

Andrew scoffed quietly to himself and set the phone on speaker to light his cigarette. Muffled, he said, “He better be eye candy if I’m coming to that dump.”
Andrew inhaled deep and closed his eyes for a moment before blowing the smoke out through his teeth. On the other end of the phone, just as he was bringing the cigarette back for another drag, he heard Wymack say, “Hey, my son wants to know if you’re cute.”
Andrew coughed up his lung at that surprise, but he didn’t miss the way that a distant voice piped up with “I want to say yes, sir.”
