Eddie flushes, because he knows that her partner isn’t the same as work partner. It’s an assumption they had never bothered to correct at Christopher’s school, mostly because it made it easier for people to understand why Buck was around so often, versus best friend or colleague or legal guardian in case I die.
“Yeah,” Eddie responds, his voice thicker than he expected. “He’s the best partner I could ask for.”
Or: Christopher hosts a sleepover, Buck helps, and Eddie realizes he hasn’t been a single dad in years.

The words are angry, poisonous - the kind of thing he used to swallow down, so the only person that they hurt was him. But Eddie is done playing nice now. He’s done smothering the flames to make everyone else feel better, at the expense of burning his own hands.

He can hear Hatwell giving up on his attempt to show them more ‘brotherly bonding’ as his Father likes to call it, Maxwell knows however that his turd of an older brother wouldn’t have the guts to do any of this if Samwell wasn’t currently off at University.

One night when Eddie can't sleep, he discovers the hottest Jeopardy contestant of all time (objectively). With the "help" of his team and his fairly good working knowledge of Twitter, they devise a plan to get Evan (from Jeopardy) to slide into Eddie's DMs. It works surprisingly well.
