She pauses to think for a moment, then smiles. You're somehow more afraid than you were a few seconds ago. "Halibut this: you get the frog for me or—"
There's a flash of green and Jade and Dave are suddenly next to her. Dave looks around, makes eye contact with you, and suddenly he's jumping at the Condesce. She throws her trident and impales him in the chest, pinning him to the wall. He slumps over and you cry out. Before you have time to think Jane appears on her other side, holding Rose by the throat. She drops the Seer and she collapses to the floor in a bloody heap. Kanaya moves to protect Rose, but the Drones raise their arms in a threat. She stills, eyes flickering between the Empress and her matesprite. You're trying to control your breathing, but Dave isn't looking too good with all of the blood pooling around him and you're pretty sure his death would justify as heroic, so you're kind of freaking out. The irregular rise and fall of his chest is only a slight reassurance.
The Condesce motions to the two humans. "—I kill your matesprites."

Karkat's such an asshole.
He's your best bro, but sometimes when he's screaming about some shit Vriska said to him you can't help but want to flip off the couch and hit your head on the floor so you don't have to hear any more of his bullshit.
You do usually find it amusing, however.
Sometimes you antagonize him on purpose, and you sit there while he spews angry nonsense into your glasses. You rotate between keeping a completely neutral expression and a smirk, but the smirk produces the more entertaining rants, so you favor it. You just watch him as he riles himself up and you can't help but feel some weird sense of right in the whole situation.
You're not sure what the fuck is up with that.

The doors open once again. Zuko can hear shuffling and grunting behind him. He tried to strain his head to see the new figure, but finds it nearly impossible to move. He manages to look beside him once the figure reaches the center of the room. Zuko cries.

Iroh laughs again, clutching his belly. "Zuko is rarely happy, unless he's around you, it seems." Iroh ponders this for a second, then continues on his earlier train of thought. "So, Sokka, do you think you'll be returning home any time soon?" He asks, looking slyly over his mug.
"Since Katara and my dad have come out here a few times, I don't really feel the need to go back to the tribe right now," he admits. Iroh hums happily in response.
What Sokka doesn't say is that he's already home. Zuko is his home.

When Mai sees Ty Lee, the world freezes for a second.
Surrounded by the other warriors, clad in the bright makeup, Mai sees her as she's always wanted to be: strong, happy, beautiful. Although she's in a sea of green and white, Mai can spot her immediately. She has a certain way she holds herself, as if she's brimming with excitement and wonder constantly. Mai's never understood, but maybe that's why Ty Lee charms her so.

But when they reach the port there's Zuko in his regal robes, hair knotted in his crown. Sokka suddenly feels a lot warmer, heat creeping up his chest and wrapping around it.
Yeah, Sokka can definitely get used to the heat.
