Barty Crouch, drunk enough to let go of his shame for a pretty enough boy, meets Evan Rosier at an underground bar. He's sleep deprived and awkward and Barty is the only one he has ever had the courage to accept flirting from - better yet, to flirt with. At only 19 and 18, their rapidly developing relationship is a new experience for both. Even in a world of recent decriminalisation, neither of them know how to love in a way that doesn't hurt.
They can immerse themselves in distractions - drugs, artists, models. They can replace each other. They can lie and drink and smoke. But they can't quit. When they're drunk or angry enough, they'll always find each other again.

“They’re messing with you both,” Lily whispered in his ear, and he had to lean in close to hear her over the cheers that were louder now as the kisses around the circle grew sloppier with each couple.
“Hm?” Evan blinked, still staring at the spot that had been previously occupied by Sirius. He was long gone now.
“Sirius and Barty,” Lily clarified patiently. “They got you and Remus right where they wanted you. I think that Sirius is currently… making it up to Remus right now in the dorm…"
Evan lifted his eyes back to Barty, who was still staring at him. At how close he was to Lily, a frown deepening on his face.
Oh?
So that’s what this was?
A small smile grew on Evan’s face, and he nodded in understanding. If Barty wanted to play, then Evan would, too.
or, Evan is dragged to another Gryffindor party, and to his dismay, he has to watch Barty kiss Sirius Black during Spin the Bottle.
