With Leo down for the count very early in a world where Casey Jr. never showed up to halt the apocalypse, Donatello finds himself in an impossible situation. But much like the world where Leo survived, the end is only the beginning.
This is a What if on Donnie surviving to the end instead of Leo. AU Rise Movie crossover with 2012 TMNT. This is an opener to a set of drabbles, unless I find it in me to compile it all here as a chronological story. Even if they are drabbles though, they won't be left unfinished.
Rated Mature for heavy themes of death and loss. This is the apocalypse after all, at least at the start. There may be some cursing but there are no sexual themes to speak of.Series

Summary
Mikey had spent his entire childhood believing he only had one older brother. After an unlikely encounter turns his world upside down, he soon discovers a world—and a family, by extension—that's been hidden underneath his feet the whole time, and he's determined to reach out and make sense of it all.
As it turns out, Donnie is just as desperate to connect with his lost family on the other side of things; all in spite of both his and Mikey's respective older brothers not wanting them to.

Leo watched him awkward. Instinct told him to try to relax and make a joke, but something made him feel that this one would not be well received.
"Don't worry, big brother," said the one in red bandana.
(And something in that sentence was wrong).
"You'll get your memories back and then we'll all be training together again, you'll see" he told him with a confident smile, looking like he believed every word he said. But faltering at the end of the sentence, showing a bit of his doubt.
Leo tried to smile back, only ending with a strange grimace.
Everything was wrong, his body was wrong. And even though he didn't know what was going on, he was just sure that those people were not his brothers.

Rise and 2012 Leo change dimension. The problem? They both have amnesia, they are in each other's body and they both just woke up from their respective coma.
