Another thing that really sinks quite deep under his skin is to hear how utterly tired Jon sounds when he speaks. His voice is, as always, pleasant, like the rustling of pages being turned or the soft humming of a stream in a forest, but it sounds…so oddly broken. Bordering desperate, if he could allow himself the luxury of making assumptions.
“I’d rather…have some company,” he says, clearing his throat in a misplaced fit of modesty. “I know it’s highly inappropriate, unethical even, but-”
Well, the fact that Jonathan Sims of all others is suggesting that they should sleep together is – well, not surprising but stroke-inducing. It’s something that goes so beyond his wildest dreams and expectations that Martin actually needs a moment to collect himself - to process - before giving Jon some kind of an acceptable answer.An unexpectedly intimate moment occurs between Martin and Jon as Martin lives in the Archives after having been a hostage to Jane Prentiss in his own apartment.
