Joel tenses up behind you. “Funny,” he says. With your hands cushioned against his neck, you feel the grate of his voice in his throat. “This is the best you’re gonna get unless you wanna be butt ass naked to share heat.”
It should be a joke. But the way he says it… doesn’t sound like a joke.
You smother the initial shock in your voice. “So what, we’re gonna fuckin’ huddle for warmth?”
“Would you rather freeze to death?” Joel asks. You look up at him from where you’re curled into his side and find no gleam in his eyes. This isn’t just some knee-slapper for him. Joel Miller is being completely, irreversibly serious.
“I’d rather something less like Naked and Afraid, Joel!”

Joel is the only guy you know with four wheel drive in the rarely-snowy state of Texas, so it seems like a no-brainer to have him pick you up from work — until his truck breaks down, leaving you two to the classic 'huddle for warmth' solution.

It’s more honest than you necessarily wanted it to be, but you find it hard to care when Joel seems so tuned into you. He watches you and nods.
"Do you think that’s strange?" you ask, all of a sudden worried he finds your need for a lack of autonomy revolting, or pitiful. Joel’s eyes are glued to yours, when you look up at him.
"No," he says softly, "I think you’ve been made to question yourself way too much. Creates stress and pressure I’ll gladly take away if I can."When your mother asks you to take Joel to a family wedding, you start opening up to him in ways you haven't with anyone else.

Arthur tilted his head, mind obscured with the mere action of simply looking at her, in all her prepossessing glory. Her body, all lithe and at peace, had an almost quieting appeal to the man. As if her figure sprawled across the mattress was a daisy that'd been pressed into the page of a book; pretty and futile, preserving the memory of her perfection sunken into the sheets and under his skin. Arthur wanted to capture this image of her: every feature, every freckle and bruise, even those little red strands of hair floating in loose tendrils across her pillow. All of it. But all he could do was stare, and that seemed to be enough.
Being pulled from the comfort of her Great Aunt by the Van Der Linde gang in a train robbery gone sour was troubling, but Lavinia Cornwall would not waver.

Savigne Ricci is a temporary guest at the Van der Linde camp. Her path crosses with the enforcer of the gang, Arthur Morgan and despite their differences, a relationship develops between them. Loosely (very loosely) based on Red Dead Redemption 2
Full disclosure: Honestly it's just an excuse to write smut and fluff between Arthur Morgan and an original female character, but to do it properly, there is plenty of slice of life stuff to get into the heads of characters. Mostly positive, but it was a brutal time so of course terrible things happen, too. Slow burn-ish, eventual explicit content, enemies to lovers, lovers to enemies - you know how it goes. Low to mid honor Arthur Morgan, but he's a complicated guy so don't frown if high honor stuff happens later on.
