The wet clumps of his eyelashes stoke the fire inside Hyunjin.
"I'm happy, too, sweetheart," Hyunjin says, and he wonders if his voice sounds as raw and crazy as he feels.
Jeongin shakes his head a little, and a single tear runs down his cheek. Hyunjin's hand moves before he tells it to, pressing a finger into the tear. It practically burns him in the cold air.
"And I'm s-sorry I was like that. Earlier. Jealous. You d-didn't do anything wrong. You should be allowed to be n-nice to other dongsae—"
This is torture. This is bliss. Jeongin stuttering through a sweet, unnecessary apology, face wet and red from the cold and his tears. Eyes shining. Mouth screwed up as he tries to stay composed.
Hyunjin doesn't want him composed. He wants him sobbing louder, messier, wetter.
Fuck, he's hard.

“How is it so easy for you guys?”
Chan pulls back a little to look him in the eyes. “Because we’ve had time, Jeongin. You had none.”
That, somehow, makes Jeongin crumple. He gasps, tries to keep his cries in, but it’s futile. Chan holds him, Changbin wrapping his arms around him after a few seconds. Jeongin, for the first time since he woke, let himself fully grieve. He let himself feel what he’s been avoiding. He screams and cries from the anger. He hiccups from the guilt. He’s an utter mess.
Yet, through it all, he remains held. They don’t let go. And that makes him wail harder.
Chan had an inkling their pack was still missing something, someone. Enter Yang Jeongin, but not in the way anyone expected.

"Fuck you guys," he said between gritted teeth before quickly running after Jeongin who had went into a bathroom and was crying to himself on the floor.

“Never would I think of catching such a rare creature…” the man says quietly, as though he were scared to break this strange moment. But then his smile turns predatory, and Jeongin’s hands start shaking. He gets up from the floor and turns to the other men, waving them closer. “You see, kid, when I started this job, I knew it would mostly consist of hunting the regular vampire, werewolf - maybe even a few ghosts here and there…”
The man, the hunter , opens a box and gently takes out an odd-looking knife, admiring it under the light coming from the other side of the door, glinting with a red tint. He faces Jeongin once again, and looks him up and down, seemingly satisfied with what he finds. “But I would have never thought of hunting a witch, of all things.”
Witches are to hide: tracked by both hunters and supernatural creatures, that's the only way they can survive. Jeongin is a young witch, captured and tortured by hunters. But somehow, help comes his way in the form of his supposed enemies.

It’s loaded again– they both know what the same mistakes mean– it’s not fair for Chan to ask, it’s not even fair of him to be here, to invade Jisung’s space like this, but he can’t save Jeongin without them. He needs them, now more than ever.
It's been three years since Stray Kids's last mission. Three years of Chan working alone after the mistake that cost him everything, three years since all of them turned their back on their leader and started their own lives, three years since Chan's betrayal.
But maybe Chan was never meant to carry the burdens all alone; maybe Stray Kids was never meant to fall apart. Maybe history needs to repeat before the broken mends and the scars heal. Maybe, each other is all they need to face the past.
And maybe, there's a future for the team after all; if only they can save Jeongin.

Summary
Hung all over the tiny apartment with a high ceiling were framed canvases of different shapes and sizes, paint chaotically splattered along the white spaces in-between. They were paintings of a single person, a woman with blue hair, a piercing blue gaze– all in different angles, doing different things. Sometimes blurry, sometimes just a silhouette, sometimes with flowers, sometimes different outfits– but it was undeniable.
Vi’s apartment was filled with paintings of Caitlyn from a life she did not remember living.
A version of herself she had no recollection of, but it was undoubtedly her.

As a tear slipped down Jinx’s cheek, Caitlyn wondered if the child - Powder, she would be reminded later - was still capable of making her way to the surface, of burying Jinx and all the pain and sorrow and manipulation that Jinx represented in order to grab at the chance to be herself again.
