The Joker is finally dead, and Jason has one final plan.
His next movements were swift and mechanical, shedding his bullet-ridden chest plate and replacing it with the quietly beeping one. As the plate clicked into place, a shudder ran through him. He still had time, time to reconsider, to return to a life he thought he would never have again.

Summary
Jason was supposed to be in the middle of a normal drug bust, but it goes horribly wrong, and he is thrust back into the memories of a dead boy.
Dissociation.Jason recognized the signs, the inability to stay in the present, the flashbacks, and the fact that he was reliving and watching his most traumatic memories were proof enough.
“P-please, Jason…Help me.” Robin gasped at his feet, bruises blooming gleefully over exposed skin and blood trickled down his half-masked face. Jason remembered every blow the Joker had landed.

He lifts Jason so that his head rests on his shoulder, and pulls his arms through the sleeves. The buttons still have to be buttoned, so he lays him down again, and focuses on each individual button.

“Stay for a shower at least,” Dick found himself saying as Jason gathered his belongings. “You smell terrible,” Jason glared at him, “and there’s blood in your hair,” Dick added cautiously.
That earned him another glare.
“Listen, Dick, whatever you’re doing right now, this... caring stuff. I don’t need it, okay? Stop trying to overcompensate and pretend you give a single fuck about me. You didn’t care when you locked me up, and don’t you dare give me the ‘no killing’ speech, B isn’t here, and you aren’t him, never going to be him. I can take care of myself, and what I do is none of your business. You already won, so just pretend I don’t exist or something,” Jason shrugged on his bloody jacket, looking anywhere but at Dick.

[Dropped/no longer being updated] unfortunately, I wanted this to fall in line with canon at least a little bit but actual canon Gojo has such a different childhood that I've lost all motivation for this.
"When he was born, a choir of angels descended from the sky bathed in halos of golden light, singing heavenly hymns to greet his arrival. The seas churned and the king of the sea himself stepped onto the land to present gifts of gold and rare treasures. Countless animals bowed in his direction, a phenomenon that had never been seen in a thousand years. The very balance of the world shifted when he took his first breath; at least that’s what they told him.
Satoru thinks it’s all a pile of horse shit. Who in their right mind would believe that? Angels descending down from heaven, sea gods rising from the depths of the ocean, animals bowing in worship to him. He might have been born to be the strongest but there was a limit to what he could believe in."
An exploration that begins with Satoru Gojo's childhood and ends with his fated meeting with his one and only.

Yes, meaning was all they had in this ugly, cruel, world. Meaning drove them to sacrifice, to suffer, to do their duty. Meaning was the only thing they would have left in the face of death.
