I look up at him, Itadori’s pink hair ruffled from sleep and his pajamas a comfortable mess atop his body. A pink t-shirt that matches his hair with white shorts that fall just below his knees. His eyes tired and red-rimmed from seemingly crying, part of me wishes I could’ve been there to comfort him.
His eyes were soft with concern, but I almost couldn’t see it with how lightheaded I felt. I’m so close to collapsing that a part of me hopes I do, because if I collapse, maybe he’ll catch me, maybe he’ll hold me tight and never let go.
“You okay? You look like you’ve been crying. It’s pretty late, you should be sleeping.”
My head falls on his shoulder, whether it’s on purpose or not, I can’t tell. My arms wrap loosely around his waist and my tears fall freely, dampening his neck and the shoulder of his clothing in a silent mess.
“I’m fine…” I whisper, my voice ragged and choked. “Just… let me have this…”

Megumi lowered his book, peering over it at Yuji. He was met with caramel-colored eyes that looked a little too innocent for the Yuji that Megumi knew. Megumi laid the open book next to him on the couch and placed his hands on Yuji’s thighs, which were currently bracketing his own. Yuji, with the book now out of his way, placed his hands on Megumi’s chest.
“What are you plotting?” Megumi asked.
Yuji shrugged. “Who says I’m plotting anything?” Megumi didn’t miss how Yuji opened his legs further, allowing his hips to sit flush with Megumi’s.
“Your face says otherwise,” Megumi argued, but he moved his hands to Yuji’s hips all the same.
Yuji cocked his head to the side, playing as coy as possible. “What does it say?” Yuji wrapped his arms around Megumi’s neck, one hand scratching at this hair.
Megumi took a deep breath, doing his best to ignore how fucking good that hand felt in his hair. “It says you’re full of shit.”

Fushiguro puts a hand to Yuuji’s forehead. To check for a fever. Obviously.
“You feel hot.”
“I feel hot?” Yuuji balks, “No — you’re hot — feel hot — I’m — What? I —”
“That’s enough,” Fushiguro interrupts.
Is it just Yuuji or does Fushiguro look a little flushed too? But that can’t be right. When he was touching him just now his hands felt so icy.
Oh god, he’s starting to hallucinate. It’s never been this bad before. He didn’t even know heat stroke could cause hallucinations.
“I’m taking him to Ieiri.”
Fushiguro heaves him up to standing and threads an arm around his waist. The difference in temperature between Fushiguro’s cold skin and Yuuji’s overheated skin is disorienting. Yuuji puts his arm around Fushiguro’s shoulder. To make it easier for him to help support Yuuji’s weight. Obviously.
As the two of them stumble towards the infirmary, Yuuji hears what sounds like Kugisaki laughing under her breath. He glances back to see if that was real or not, but her mouth is firmly pressed into a smirk.
He’s probably just imagining things again.
OR yuuji learns that heat stroke & a crush on your best friend have a lot of the same symptoms

Yuuji is a guardian angel who’s always followed orders without question; he watches over Megumi, he protects him, and he never interferes more than he’s allowed to. Things start to shift in ways neither of them can explain, and while Megumi starts to feel the cracks in his carefully built walls, Yuuji is forced to confront the limits of his purpose.
But in the end, does knowing the truth make any difference?
