You never realize what loneliness feels like until you’re truly alone. Sure, you can be lonely in a crowd, but at least there are still people. But that loneliness doesn’t hold a candle to true loneliness - the loneliness that comes from being the only human around, the loneliness that comes to you in the deepest woods and most barren wastelands. It’s a painful, pitiable feeling, that loneliness. It starts in your chest and works outwards, eating away at your insides like a candle devours its wick until you’re nothing but a shell.
