Noelle walked closer, only for Kris to grab her arm gently. “My darling. I do not know if I will survive to see the ‘morrow.” They said extremely dramatically. “Promise me you’ll… you’ll… uh…” They trailed off.
“Damn. This ‘last words’ thing is harder than it looks.”
Noelle shook her head fondly, moving her arm to where instead of Kris holding on to her arm, they were homing onto her hand. She rubbed circles on their hand. “Well, it’s a good thing you aren’t dying anytime soon.” She said with a sweet smile.
“As long as the plague doesn’t claim me.”
