Summary
The Red Room seemed like an always hungry void, always sucking in more and more girls.
Natalia could remember the feeling of Yelena slipping out of her grasp, and the feeling of starvation, a feeling that she had thought would never come back, returning. Ohio had made her soft, weak, too used to the comfort of always having enough to eat and attention to go around. There were a few dark spots tainting those memories, like the time Alexei had gotten drunk and she had to barricade herself and Yelena in her room hoping that Melina would hurry up getting home and stop him. The best memories were of Yelena running around happily, the time she dyed her hair blue and all that had happened was going out for ice cream, and Melina calmly explaining homework, or just doing it for her. There was no room for any of that in the Red Room though Natalia just had to get used to the constant pangs in her stomach from never having enough to eat, constantly fighting to get even the barest amount of approval from the Madames, and the jealous eyes of the other girls when she got selected for a mission.

Summary
Al Hashimi suddenly pauses, looking up from Trinity’s thigh to make eye contact. The deep brown of her eyes is oddly soothing, frustratingly so while Trinity’s trying to keep her defences fully up. “Would it help?” She asks.
“What?”
“If I reported you,” she clarifies, “would it help you? Mandatory therapy, monitoring, whatever this hospital’s policy is?”
Trinity ducks her head to avoid feeling so seen. “No.”

Summary
“I know you mentioned a raincheck,” Santos begins, and then she gets a little lost.
(She has the next words ready.
She’s been practicing them in her head for the last few minutes.
Still, they’re caught in her throat like a sip of water going down the wrong pipe.)
But Garcia is patient.
So unbelievably fucking patient.
"But I don’t—want to be alone,” Santos admits with a slight grimace, trying to sound chill and casual even though this isn’t chill and casual at all. But her voice comes out audibly strained because that was just enough of a lie to make her squeeze her eyes shut and bite her bottom lip way too hard. “I probably shouldn’t be alone tonight,” she corrects with what little air is left in her lungs.
“Okay,” Garcia says, simple and gentle and effortless, and nods toward the passenger side. “Get in.”

Summary
Trinity doesn’t think the permanent addition of Dr. Al-Hashimi will change much about the ED. That changes after an impromptu offer to watch her kid for the evening. One night leads to another, which bleeds into a familiarity Trinity hadn’t known she was missing.
Or,
Trinity falls hard. She doesn’t know how to navigate it.

Summary
The drawings stared at Trinity with their crayon and marker and 2B pencil, warm and unjudgmental. Sometimes, when shift really sucked, she’d head to her locker and look at them, and they’d help.
No matter what anyone screamed at her, no matter what awful shit her mind cooked up at 2am, Santos had been a good doctor for those children. Some days, it was the only thing that kept her afloat.
or, Trinity Santos and the pediatric cases that make her.
