Jaune Arc had always wanted to be a knight like his father before him. Unfortunately, little training and even less experience didn't exactly lend well to becoming one.
After failing to even be allowed into initiation at Beacon, Atlas, Haven, AND Shade academies, Jaune was beginning to lose hope. Menagerie had no academy, and the Valley was both a ways away and had little of its own.
But by pure chance, Jaune happened across news that there was a powerful force in the Valley was recruiting for knights, no qualification's needed to apply and initiate, you just had to pass.
It wasn't his fault he didn't know it was an EVIL knight order! Who even does that?!

Summary
The Valean Council had stolen the throne from his family, believing them eradicated. Deepest Darkness encroached upon the Kingdom, beset with strife and uncertainty. The Light, fading.
So was Jaune Orpheus Arc's quest set before him- with the guidance of his ancestors of yore, he was to finish what the Founder King and Warrior of Light, Ozma, began in time antiquity.
Guided by the steady hand of the Lord Commander of the Huntsman Lodge, Ozpin, Jaune must navigate the fragile balance that exists between the Huntsmen and the Valean Kingdom- a balance one disaster away from shattering.
In a time where the Valean Council has warped the Kingdom into something far from the ideals of the King they stole it from, peace is a tenuous illusion, and the Grimm are not the largest threat Huntsmen face. A world deprived of its magic, and a Kingdom secluded from it's once great allied cities, now all believed to be myth.
An impetus was needed to change the stagnating status quo. From the operations of Beacon Academy, the governing of the Kingdom, and to the belief of the existence of Kindgoms long cleansed from the annals of history.
The Crown Prince was that impetus.
