UPDATE: At this stage, I don't plan to continue this story. I feel that my grasp on the characters has matured a bit, and I've lost the momentum for carrying out this plot line. I am, however, writing a smaller-scale re-imagining of seasons 6-7. Please see the notes for this work for links!

Summary

Or the Demobat bites cause a sickness to burn its way through Eddie and Steve weeks after Vecna is defeated. The two die and come back as something new, something hungry for blood. Now with Eddie and Steve having become what they feel they've always meant to be they're ready to start their happy ending. But the last of their enemies have not been defeated and now they must protect themselves and their humans from Jason Carver and his religious zealots that are convinced that Eddie and Steve both killed Chrissy and are continuing to run their cult unopposed. Can they save themselves and their friends without spilling human blood and becoming the monsters Jason says they are?

He can’t look at Eddie.
“ And that all this…” His throat tightens. “Us. Isn’t real.”
