Summary
After their defeat of Palpatine and Ben's resurrection of Rey, the two race across the galaxy but must step back and figure out what their relationship will be like in this post-sith galaxy. Rey sends Ben into hiding. The outer rim planets have become bastions of crimelords and Ben's new hiding place is one of them, because of this Ben is having trouble keeping his head down during his isolation. Meanwhile, Rey grapples with her own trauma from Exogul and how she can begin to teach Finn the ways of the force. During all of this, Poe deals with survivor's guilt and trying to navigate his new role without guidance. A new danger is growing around them, born from the hole left by the Star Killer

The force vibrates around Rey. Below her. Inside of her. She is still always looking for him, however foolish she knows it is. She hasn’t felt his presence since he had vanished on Exegol in her arms. Perhaps that is the cruelest thing of all, she thinks. That she hadn’t felt him pass. Not with peace and purpose, nor with any other feeling. No fanfare or reward at the end of his brutal path. He had simply... disappeared. Ceased, as if a word unspoken. Rey reaches further, strains harder, digs deeper. He had found her here once upon a time, hadn’t he? Over merciless light-years of the void of deep space, the Force had propelled his presence towards her like a meteorite, until they had met on just such a rainy day. So now, she reaches.

In the end, she has to hand it to him— he'd always been an expert in taking her by surprise, and it would appear that he's chosen not to shake the habit even in death.
"Rey Skywalker?" There's a vaguely sardonic twist to the corner of his mouth. "Does that make you my cousin now?"
"It seemed like a fitting tribute," she says in wooden tones. Be it dream or vision, she might as well play along— draw this out until reality comes crashing back. Who knows when he'll come to her again as solid and as vibrant as this?
"I see." Suddenly he's leaning into her, their faces so close together. "Tell me," he murmurs, his lips almost brushing against hers, "have you ever heard of the term kissing cousins?"
She registers the smell of alcohol on his breath at the same time that his eyes flutter shut and he slumps face-down into her lap, snoring softly. You're alive, is all she can think at first, staring down at his head of lush black hair.
Ben Solo is alive.
Alive and very, very drunk.

Life carries on for galaxy until one day, the distance between the here and world beyond, begins to shift.
And Ben begins to find a way back to her.
Excerpt:
[Stretching with a yawn, Rey rises from the cold, dewy grass. Clothes damp and clinging to her skin as a strange anticipation lurches in her gut. An old sensation rippling up her back in a way her sleep drunken mind is unable to fathom.
Then she see’s it.
A shadow inching forward in the half light, heavy footprints on the grass rising through the fog.
Hesitant and unsure ,as if trying to find direction in this poor visibility.
Rey watches with growing awe at a familiar silhouette forming against the brightening glow of the dawn.
Her heart stops in her chest as her jaw begins to shake. Lips trembling as a name starts to shape on her tongue.
"Ben?"]
