Summary
Stede, a history professor specializing in the golden age of piracy, is fascinated when art professor Edward Teach joins his humble university’s faculty. Even more fascinating are the rumors that Ed is actually the famous, anonymous artist, Blackbeard. Stede falls a little bit in love. Then a lot.

Summary

(Stede is, as it turns out, a bit miserable no matter how hard he tries.)

He's known as THE beekeeper in town, always meticulous, always gentle, never too bothered with rules, expectations, or protective gear for that matter. Not that Ed asked, but— Stede isn’t like Ed. Right? He would’ve asked.
—Right?
“Maybe,” Stede continues, while Ed’s mind is spinning, “I can’t sleep because I got very, very used to sleeping with another person in here with me, and it’s not so easy without them, anymore.”
Ah, Ed thinks, before he says out loud, “Ah,” where it comes out significantly more strangled-sounding.
