Summary
The woman–Dr. Al-Hashimi, Trinity’s brain fills in–is looking at the computer in front of her. She’s pretty, with dark curly hair pulled up loosely on top of her head, a few strands loose and skimming the collar of her white shirt.
She looks up at Trinity where she’s hovering in the doorway. “Come in, please. It’s Trinity, right?”
Trinity nods. “Yes, um. Nice to meet you, Dr. Al-Hashimi.”
“Call me Baran, please. So, you’re interested in the job?” Dr. Al-Hashimi’s eyes are fixed on Trinity. They’re dark and liquidy, and Trinity feels oddly afraid of her for a second, caught in her gaze. Intimidated, even though Al-Hashimi–no, Baran–is probably only ten years older than her, fifteen at most.

It was all Trinitys fault. Everything that happened between her and Yolanda had been on Trinitys terms. So she had no right to spiral. Defenitely no right to snap at Dr. Al-Hashimi like that. But she does. Because that's what Trinity does. She snaps and fights and hurts anybody who tries to show her kindness. Maybe this is what she deserves.

Her dark brown eyes were only glowing against a dark, smoky eye and gold jewelry as they held eye contact with Trinity. Her hair fell down in a side part of bouncy curls, haloing her with a highlighted crown. The most beautiful woman Trinity had seen only pursed her lips at this, setting her bag on the bar between them, before tilting her head in Trinity’s direction again.
“Not my luck then,” Her voice is playfully wistful, and Trinity is too far distracted by the muscles in her neck as she moves to understand,
“What’s not your luck?” She thinks she hears herself ask.
Trinity watches as the woman's focused gaze moves up and down her body, letting out a soft laugh. She replies, “You not staying long, thought I would have more time to lay my cards down.”
