“Cats.” Langa placed the box down carefully on Reki’s bed.
“Huh?”
“Cats,” he said again, opening the box flaps this time. “I found cats and you can take care of them.”

It’s said that if you wish on a shooting star, your wish will come true.
“I wish for Reki to like me back.”
A bright star streaks across the night, leaving cosmic dust on its trail. The nighttime is cool, the roof under his bare feet is chilled to the touch, but Langa’s skin is ablaze. His hands, clasped, shiver in the wind. He squeezes his eyes shut. I said it! I said it out loud!
Peeling his eyes open, Langa notices that the star’s gone from the sky. Hopefully the star heard him on its way to its destination. Maybe it’ll relay his wish and phone a friend, and maybe his wish really will come true.
Langa unclasps his hands, hangs them at his sides in fists, and takes a deep breath. Cramming his eyes closed, he screams at the top of his lungs, “I really, really want Reki to like me back!”

He had been doing nothing but making sure this day was perfect. Why did Kaoru have to go and make it so difficult?
“You are getting married!” Kaoru screeched at him. Kojiro stood there frozen, only blinking a few times while processing that deranged thought.
“...I’m what?” The 18 year old Kojiro was at a loss for words. After more than a decade of knowing each other, Kaoru still found ways to stun him.
“You are going to Italy! You’ll continue your life there. You’ll finish your studies, get a job and your life will be there. And surely you’ll meet someone and you’ll marry, and get a family. You’ll never come back home. Why does everyone leave me?-”
Or Graduation time is getting closer, and Kojiro and Kaoru are scared of what that means for them. All they want is to hold on tight to each other and stop time.

Those are the words that leave Langa’s mouth, his eyes squeezed shut, cause, well… he’s kind of too nervous to look at Reki right now. But he forces his eyes open, because he really, really needs to know Reki’s reaction.
Reki’s staring into space, cheeks a little red (Langa can’t really see), looking vacant. Then he blinks, grins at Langa, does very awkward finger-guns and moonwalks into his house and closes the door.
And he expected Reki to do a lot of things, but that. Was not one of them.
Or, Langa finally works up the courage to ask Reki out, but he forgets something very important about the day's date.

I love their smile.” Langa’s expression turns soft, wistful. “But I don’t think they’ll ever like me back.”
“Why’s that?” Reki asks, mouth full.
Langa smiles at him sadly. “They’re way too good for me.”
Or, Reki and Langa's first crushes big enough that they want to do something about it (on each other of course), the way they do something about it (very different) and their first kiss (awkward as hell, but sweet. Just like them)
