Mizuki’s voice came out sharper than she intended, mostly from shock. She hadn’t expected anyone to knock at this hour—let alone her girlfriend, standing on her doorstep like a drenched kitten.
Mafuyu’s hair clung to her cheeks, long strands dripping rainwater onto the welcome mat. Her school bag hung off one shoulder, soaked through, and she shivered despite trying to stand straight. She didn’t meet Mizuki’s eyes—just stared somewhere near Mizuki’s feet, her brows drawn in the smallest, tight little frown.
“I… can’t go home. Not now.” Her voice was thin, barely holding itself together.
