Agatha gestured vaguely toward the side of her desk, where a wilted paper bag slumped beside her trash bin. “Whatever takeout my assistant brings. There are salads,” she added, defensive now. “So there—nutrients.”
Jen didn’t blink. “You take one bite and then vanish into your work for seven hours straight. By the time the smell starts bothering you, it’s already spoiled. Then you throw it out and say you forgot. Again. Look, all I’m asking is to give it a try. Call the service.”

Summary

This changes when a scraggly teenager begins using her greenhouse as a study space, suddenly putting her under the lens of the enigmatic headteacher, Agatha Harkness who also happens to be his guardian. After years of failed relationships, Rio finds herself inexplicably drawn to the woman and, with the aid of some teenage meddling, can’t seem to keep her distance, despite what a bad idea it could be to pursue her boss.

“Oh, please, like any of that would hold up in court,” Agatha scoffs sharply. “That was the most illegal arrest I’ve ever seen, heard of, or been a part of, Special Agent.”
Rio glares at her. “Actually, it was quite legal. You physically assaulted a government agent.” Rio pauses, narrowing her eyes as she adds, “twice.”
“Maybe next time don’t lean into a purps car,” she advises with a light shrug. Rio stares at her, lip steadily bleeding. Shifting on her feet, Agatha clears her throat and tosses her hands in the air. Agatha looks at her as if to say, ‘what can you do?’.
